Cass County Accident: 77-Year-Old Woman Dies After Two-Vehicle Crash in Cass County, Michigan

A 77-year-old woman was killed Tuesday afternoon, October 27, 2026, after her vehicle was struck by another car at an intersection in Mason Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Mason Street and Calvin Center Road.

Investigators said Elsie Levan was driving a Nissan Rogue eastbound on Mason Street. She stopped at the intersection but failed to yield the right of way, authorities said.

Her vehicle was then struck on the driver’s side by a Toyota Highlander travelling south on Calvin Center Road.

Levan suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Toyota Highlander was driven by a 38-year-old man identified in local reporting as Andrew Habich. His condition was not immediately released.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said alcohol and drugs did not appear to have contributed to the crash.

Deputies continued investigating the collision to document the circumstances and determine whether any additional factors played a role.

The crash was one of two separate fatal incidents reported in West Michigan on Tuesday. Authorities have not announced any further findings in the Cass County investigation.
